Terms of Service
Last updated 26 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Yangyi Yi, an individual based in China, who
operates Options Meerkat (optchain) and is reachable at
optionsmeerkat@gmail.com ("we"). They cover this
website, the dashboard at optionsmeerkat.com/app/, the program you install, the
shared server at api.optionsmeerkat.com, Meerkat (the AI inside them), and the Pro
plan, together "the service". By using the service you accept these terms; if you do not,
please do not use it.
What the service is
Options Meerkat is a research tool for US equity and index options. It shows option chains, implied volatility and figures derived from it, option flow, dealer gamma estimates, strategy profit and loss, backtests of strategies over past data, and alerts, and Meerkat answers questions about them. It does not connect to brokerage accounts and does not place orders.
Not investment advice
- Everything the service shows, including Meerkat's answers, backtests, scans, and alerts, is general information for research and education. It is not investment, financial, tax, or legal advice, nor a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or to use any strategy, and it does not take your circumstances into account.
- We are not a broker-dealer or a registered investment adviser.
- Options are complex and risky, and you can lose the whole of what you put in, or more. Past performance, including any backtest, does not predict future results. Backtests use modeled prices and assumptions that real trading may not match.
- You alone decide what to trade, and you are responsible for those decisions.
Data
- Market data comes from third-party sources, is delayed (option quotes about 15 minutes), and may be incomplete, late, or wrong. Figures derived from it, such as implied volatility, percentiles, and gamma exposure, are estimates from models with assumptions.
- The data and the service are for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not redistribute or resell the data, or present it as your own feed.
Meerkat, the AI
- Meerkat's answers are written by a language model from the service's data. They can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date; check what matters before relying on it.
- Questions are sent to the language model's provider to be answered, as the privacy page describes.
- Signed-in users get a daily allowance of Meerkat's work, which we may change.
Your account
- You sign in with GitHub, Google, or a code mailed to an address you control. Keep your tokens to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with them.
- One person per account. Do not share an account or a Pro plan.
- We may refuse, suspend, or end an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk.
Acceptable use
Your use of the service, and of Meerkat in particular, must follow the Acceptable Use Policy, which lists the content and activities that are prohibited, sexual or NSFW content among them. In short, do not:
- scrape, bulk-download, or mirror the service's data, or call its API beyond normal use of the program and the dashboard;
- resell, sublicense, or build a competing service on the service or its data;
- try to get around limits, quotas, sign-in, or Pro features, or reach data that is not yours;
- disrupt the service, probe it for weaknesses without permission, or use it for anything unlawful;
- use Meerkat to produce sexual or NSFW, hateful, violent, or otherwise prohibited content, or anything that breaks the law or the model provider's usage policies.
Pro, payment, and cancellation
- Pro is a subscription, billed monthly or yearly at the price shown on the pricing section when you subscribe. Prices may change; a change applies from your next billing period, and we will tell you before it does.
- Payments may be handled by a payment provider acting as reseller or merchant of record; its own terms also apply to the purchase, and it may charge taxes your location requires.
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and Pro stays on until the end of the period already paid for.
- Refunds: if Pro is not for you, write to us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full. After that, payments are not refunded, except where the law requires otherwise.
- Pro is in early access: what it includes may change as it grows, and features marked "coming soon" are not part of what you pay for until they are released.
The service as it is
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may change, suspend, or stop any part of it. We will give notice where we reasonably can, and if we stop Pro altogether we will refund the unused part of a period you paid for.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any trading or investment losses, lost profits, lost data, or indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the service or your reliance on it. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Intellectual property
The service, its software, its design, and the name and logo of Options Meerkat belong to us. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service while you follow them, and nothing more. Data from third-party sources belongs to them.
Privacy
What we keep about you, and why, is on the privacy page.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed; for a change that matters, we will tell signed-in users before it applies. Using the service after a change means you accept it.
